How to Look After Your Teeth During Pro Aligner Treatment
Why Daily Care Matters During Aligner Treatment
Pro Aligners cover your teeth for 22+ hours a day. If plaque or sugar is trapped against the enamel under an aligner, decay and white spots can develop fast. With a simple routine you can finish treatment with a healthier mouth than when you started.
Your Daily Routine
1. Brush after every meal before reinserting your aligners. A soft-bristled brush angled at 45° around the gumline does the job.
2. Floss once a day — trapped food between teeth is what causes decay between visits.
3. Rinse your aligners every time you remove them and clean them with cool water and a soft toothbrush. Never use hot water — it can warp the plastic.
4. Fluoride mouthwash at night for an extra layer of protection.
5. Drink only water with aligners in. Tea, coffee, juice and fizzy drinks will stain the trays and bathe your teeth in sugar.
Diet Tips
You can eat anything you like — just take the aligners out for meals and brush before putting them back in. Be mindful of:
- Sugary drinks: fizzy drinks and sports drinks fuel decay if you sip with aligners in
- Coffee and tea: stain your teeth (and your aligners) if consumed while wearing them
- Hard chewing gum or sticky sweets: keep them out while aligners are in
See Your Hygienist Every 3–6 Months
Professional cleaning reaches spots you can't, and lets your hygienist catch early problems before they become expensive.
