What Are Partial Denture?

Partial dentures are removable dental appliances designed to replace one or more missing teeth when you still have healthy natural teeth remaining. They consist of replacement teeth attached to a gum-coloured or metal base with clasps for support — working alongside your natural teeth, not replacing them all.

How much do partial dentures cost in London? The answer depends on the material chosen, the number of teeth being replaced, and case complexity. Membership offers a 50% discount (£20/month), and 0% finance is available (subject to status, terms apply).

Partial dentures can also serve as a transitional option while you plan longer-term solutions like dental implants or bridges — easily modified or replaced as your circumstances change.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about adult braces in London.

Member prices: acrylic from £397.50, Valplast/Flexi from £447.50, cobalt-chrome from £697.50. Standard prices: from £795, £895 and £1,395 respectively. 0% finance is available (subject to status, terms apply).

It depends on what matters most to you. Acrylic is the most affordable and easy to adjust. Valplast/Flexi is flexible, metal-free and most aesthetic. Cobalt-chrome is the slimmest, strongest and most durable. We'll recommend the right one after assessment.

Yes — modern partials use shade-matched teeth and either tooth-coloured (Valplast) or discreet (chrome) clasps. When well designed, most partials are invisible in normal conversation and smiling.

Acrylic partials typically last 5–8 years; Valplast/Flexi 5–7 years; cobalt-chrome 10+ years. Relines and adjustments may be needed along the way as your mouth changes shape.

Most foods yes — though hard, sticky or very tough foods may need more care initially. The first few weeks involve a learning curve; by 6 weeks most patients feel confident with a normal diet.

Not when well designed and maintained. Clasps grip without harming enamel. Good cleaning is essential — partials can increase plaque risk on anchor teeth, so brushing thoroughly twice a day is important.

Remove and rinse after meals if possible. Clean daily with a denture brush and non-abrasive cleaner (not toothpaste, which can scratch). Soak overnight in water or denture solution. Brush your natural teeth thoroughly.

We recommend removing it overnight to let your gums and remaining teeth recover. The exception is the first 24 hours after fitting, when continuous wear can help tissues adapt.

Typically 4–5 appointments over 2–4 weeks: consultation, impressions, bite registration, try-in and final fit. Plus a 2- and 6-week review.

A bridge is fixed (cemented) and feels more like natural teeth but requires drilling the adjacent teeth as anchors. A partial denture is removable, doesn't touch healthy teeth, and is cheaper — but takes a few weeks to adapt to.
