Composite Bonding Teeth in London

Composite bonding can be as small as repairing one chipped tooth or as broad as refining several teeth across your smile. We plan the resin placement around the shape, wear pattern and shade of your natural teeth so the result looks balanced rather than overdone.

Single-tooth composite bonding

Best for one chipped, cracked or discoloured tooth. We shade-match the resin carefully and sculpt only the tooth that needs repair so it blends in with the rest of your smile.

Multi-tooth composite bonding

Useful when several front teeth need better symmetry, lighter-looking edges or small gap closure. Treating multiple teeth together helps create a more even smile line.

Cosmetic reshaping and contouring

Small additions and refinements can soften sharp corners, tidy uneven edges and improve proportions without moving into a full veneer case.

Repairing worn teeth

Composite can rebuild teeth shortened by grinding or erosion, restoring length and edge definition while keeping as much healthy tooth structure as possible.

Composite edge bonding

A focused option for worn or uneven front edges where resin is added only at the tips. It is ideal when you want a subtle refresh instead of changing the whole tooth surface.

Longevity

How Long Does Composite Bonding Last?

Composite bonding is not permanent, but it can last well when it is planned carefully and looked after properly. In many cases, bonding stays in good shape for around 5–7 years before polishing, repair or replacement is needed.

What is typical?

Front-tooth bonding often lasts several years, but lifespan varies from patient to patient. Bite forces, tooth position, oral hygiene and day-to-day habits all affect how long the finish and edges stay looking their best.

What can shorten its lifespan?

Grinding, nail-biting, chewing pens or ice, and frequent staining from smoking or dark drinks can chip or dull the resin more quickly. Heavier biting patterns may also mean earlier maintenance is needed.

How do you help it last longer?

Brush with a non-abrasive fluoride toothpaste, floss daily and attend review appointments so small chips or staining can be dealt with early. If you clench or grind at night, your dentist may recommend a night guard.

One advantage of composite is that it can often be repaired or refinished without replacing the entire restoration. Your dentist will advise what is realistic for your own bite and smile goals.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about adult braces in London.

Composite bonding at our London clinic starts at £395 per tooth. A typical smile improvement involves 4–8 front teeth — your written plan will confirm the total before any work begins.

Well-maintained composite bonding typically lasts 5–7 years before refinishing or replacement. Avoiding nail-biting, pen-chewing and heavy red wine/coffee habits helps it last longer.

Yes — because we don't drill the natural tooth in most cases, bonding can be removed and the enamel returned to its original state. This is its biggest advantage over porcelain veneers.

Bonding is cheaper, faster and reversible, but needs more maintenance. Porcelain veneers are stronger, more stain-resistant and more colour-uniform, but involve some tooth preparation. We'll recommend the right option at your consultation.

Composite bonding vs porcelain veneers

Bonding is the conservative, reversible choice. Veneers are the long-lasting, stain-resistant choice. Both have a place.

Aftercare & recovery

Keeping your bonding looking its best

  • Avoid biting nails, pens or ice — composite can chip under point loads
  • Minimise deep-staining drinks (red wine, black coffee, cola) or use a straw
  • Don't smoke — composite picks up nicotine stain faster than enamel
  • Brush twice daily with non-abrasive fluoride toothpaste
  • Floss daily — bonding margins need cleaning like natural teeth
  • Annual polish appointments keep the lustre and lifespan going
  • Wear a night guard if you grind — protects bonding and natural teeth
