White Spots on Teeth
Chalky or opaque patches in enamel with several possible causes — each with a different management path.
Overview
White spots on teeth can look similar but have different causes. The most common are early decay (demineralisation), fluorosis (too much fluoride during enamel formation), hypoplasia (developmental enamel defects), and post-orthodontic remineralisation patterns.
Getting the diagnosis right matters because the treatment differs. Early decay spots can often be reversed or infiltrated with resin. Developmental spots may benefit from microabrasion, bleaching or resin infiltration. Larger defects may need composite bonding or veneers.
We assess each spot individually, discuss realistic outcomes, and recommend the least invasive option first wherever possible.
